Another ‘old timer’ in web hosting business. PowWeb has been around since 1999, and eight Internet years is like 80 real world years to me. They provide one sole hosting plan, offering a cheap in price but not in quality hosting for only $3.88/month! (Man, the more I do research for this website, the more I say to myself, “If only…”. )

Their ‘one plan, one price’ includes 1,500 GB of disk space, 15,000 GB of bandwith/month, unlimited domains hosted, 75 MySQL databasese, as well as daily backups for databases and much more features, starting from $5.77 if you sign up for at least one year.

One of their ’sales point’ that stands out is the so-called ‘load-balanced technology’. It works like a reserved power source; when the server you’re hosting on goes down for any reason, the backup server will automatically do its job. By this, your site will have virtually no downtime. Sounds good to me. (I had an experience with 10% downtime with a famous cheapo host and have been trying to avoid it like plaque since then.)

Other features include those ’standard’ stuff like 24/7 tech support by email or chat, toll free support and 30-day money back guarantee. PowWound support community looks quite a large one to me too. This is good as you’ll have fellows customers who are willing to help with your problems.

Update (12-10-07): I contacted their support asking about the number of domains that can be hosted on one account, it’s now 12 hours later and they haven’t got back yet. It doesn’t seem a good impression to me, by the way.

Update 2 (12-10-07: 11:42 PM central time): OK, they just got back to me. You can have unlimited domains with one PowWeb account. A little bit to slow though.

Update 3 (1-20-08): Features were upgraded to 1,500 GB storage and 15,000 GB/month bandwidth for the same old price of $5.77/month.

Update 4 (5-7-08): Price down. It’s $3.88/month today!
