"Let papa take care of you" is the motto of this hosting company.  I didn’t see in what year it was founded but looking from the awards they received, I’d guess they’ve been in business no more than a few years.  However, this US-Canadian border based company seems to me like one of those ‘no-frills’ hostings yet a reliable one.

Hostpapa provides only one plan of shared hosting.  The $5.95/month offers unlimited GB HDD space, unlimited monthly bandwidth, one free domain, hosting unlimited domains, PHP5, 100 MySQL databases with phpMyAdmin.  Looks more than enough for us personal web publishers, doesn’t it?  They guarantee 99.9% uptime and provide 30-day, unconditional money back guarantee too. 

One extra hosting bonus is, like Thinkhost.com, they boast to use 100% green energy.  Perhaps a winning factor if you’re an environment lover.  As for customer support, HostPapa gives you one-on-one help setting up and getting started as well as dedicated customer service: phone, live chat, and email support, or with the HostPapa library of video tutorials and online help docs.

I didn’t see many harsh reviews on Hostpapa on the Net.  (If so, I wouldn’t put it on my web in the first place. )  Maybe it’s still ‘young’ hence a few complaints or maybe it’s real good.  Given its being an editors’ pick from hosting-review.com two years in a row, 2006-2007, I would guess it’s the latter case.

I don’t see no special offer for Hostpapa for the time being (12-7-07) either.

Update (12-24-07): Disk space and bandwidth was doubled to 600 GB and 6,000 GB/month.

Update 2 (1-25-08): As of today disk storage is 1,500 GB and monthly traffic limit is 15,000/month.  Wow, I really love when they compete!

Update 3 (5-8-08): Hostpapa already goes unlimited. Enjoy green hosting with unlimited disk space, unlimited bandwidth and unlimited domains.
